We are looking for a toolmaker to create precision tools to aid in our manufacturing process. In this position, you will be responsible for grinding, lathing, and milling material to create the pieces we need. You will also be responsible for designing these pieces in CAD software and interpreting the blueprints of other designs. The tools could be different shapes and sizes and tolerance could be as close to plus or minus .0002. Our ideal applicant has experience as a lathe operator or die maker as well as skills with milling machines and a variety of numerical control processes.


  • Draft tool designs using CAD software
  • Work from blueprints to surface grind tools, parts, details, or repair tooling using tool-room equipment
  • Read blueprints from other designers
  • Program machines to create each tool
  • Perform quality checks on your tools
  • Perform maintenance on your machines
  • Inspect work completed per blueprints and setup sheets
  • Utilize one’s own tools to perform required work


  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Three years of experience building precision fixtures, gages, and machine parts
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and job process routing sheets
  • Ability to operate bridge ports, lathes, jig bores and surface grinders
  • Ability to use standard measuring equipment to validate product conformance to requirements
  • Tool and die making experience
  • Must have own tools to perform required work
  • Experience with CAD software
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Good math skills required with some trigonometry and geometry knowledge
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
