Lead Inspector

Job Summary

As a Lead Inspector, you will play a key role in ensuring that manufactured parts meet customer specifications and internal quality standards. You’ll be responsible for performing and overseeing in-process, final, and first-article inspections, providing guidance to other inspectors, and collaborating with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues in real-time. This role requires strong attention to detail, technical inspection skills, and the ability to mentor others while maintaining high standards in a fast-paced environment.

This position is ideal for someone who is methodical, takes initiative, and enjoys hands-on quality work on the shop floor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and oversee in-process, final, and first-article inspections using hand tools, gauges, and CMM equipment
  • Guide and support inspection team members during daily operations
  • Review inspection documentation and ensure completeness and accuracy
  • Communicate quality findings to production and engineering teams
  • Verify compliance with drawings, specifications, and customer requirements
  • Assist with non-conformance reporting and follow-up actions
  • Calibrate and maintain inspection equipment as needed
  • Maintain a clean and organized inspection area
  • Support training of new inspectors and provide daily direction on tasks
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts across quality processes
  • Use inspection software, portals, and databases to document inspection results
  • Interpret and apply AS/ISO quality standards

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience in dimensional/mechanical inspection in a manufacturing setting
  • Familiarity with AS9100 and/or ISO9001 quality standards
  • Proficiency with measurement tools: calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.
  • CMM experience preferred
  • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills
  • Ability to lead by example and support a team
  • Comfortable working in a production environment
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting
  • Ability to pass Jaeger 1 eye exam with color vision
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Schedule

  • Monday to Friday 7am-6pm
  • Saturdays as needed

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 – $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
